1983 Kuwahara Laserlite “Grail”

This is my Grail. The Monster. The late ’83 Laserlite. Kuwahara’s Ultimate racing machine at its peak of perfection and popularity.

This version of the Laserlite model is absolutely my favorite as it was only produced for about 4 months from mid October 1983 to Mid February 1984. Made by Tange in Japan, the Chromoly frame has Oval top and Bottom main tubes. Also, its features the beginning of Kuwahara Brand stamped frame sets. With the new “K” stamped rear dropouts, “Kuwahara” Stamped brake bridge, “Kuwahara Laser-Post” stamped Nitto seat post, and “Kuwahara Laser-Bars” stamped Nitto handlebars. The oval tubing Tange TRX forks also came stock on this model as well.

HIGHLIGHT: This Laserlite is the Gem in my collection. 100% Factory Correct and absolutely in Mint Show Condition like it came straight from the Factory in 1983. Every single component on this build was NOS (New Old Stock) except for the frame and decals.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Building a Laserlite where each component was Factory and New was the goal. This includes the IRC tire tubes, rim strips, Dia Compe brake cable & silver housing, P.D.N.P. seat guts and every little spoke, nipple, bolt and nut. With era correct date stamps of each component.

IMO, a Kuwahara just isn’t Complete or Factory without the correct tires!… so the “Kuwahara” stamped IRC 80x Tires (Fat/Skinny Combo) are the ICING on the cake!
